The Lion King!

Claire and I had an awesome girls day this week! We started off with lunch at Pasture, an awesome restaurant in downtown Richmond not too far from the Landmark Theatre where we were going to see Broadway's The Lion King! Claire has only watched 20 or 30 minutes of Disney's The Lion King, but that did not stop her from enjoying the Broadway version one bit! It was amazing-that's all I can say. If it comes anywhere near you, make the trip! The show did a good job of holding her attention for the entire first half-after the intermission it was a little slow, but then grabbed her again at the end. I was impressed with her attention span and patience, especially since it was in the middle of her normal nap. We had quite the adventure finding a parking spot since VCU was in the middle of classes. When we finally found a parking garage that was not full (we searched for almost an hour before the show), we were quite the walk away from the theatre and had to walk back through Monroe Park. For those of you familiar with Richmond, you know that Monroe Park is sketchy to say the least...people napping on benches, enjoying their favorite beverage in a brown bag, etc. Not the best park to walk through at all. I thought it was quite the juxtaposition and had to share this with you-here we are, walking through creep town and Claire is holding hands with me, just swinging her arms back and forth with joy. She then starts singing at the top of her lungs, "The B-I-B-L-E, yes that's the book for me! I stand alone on the word of God, the B-I-B-L-E!". Too funny. Also, when we got home, she was singing, "Clap your hands, all you people, shout unto God, with the word of praise....Oh Santa! Oh Santa! Shout unto God with the word of praise!" Even funnier but I love it and just let her keep on singing about God and "Santa". :)

Claire danced in this dress for 4 hours before we even left home to go to the show!

excited for a girls day! lunch and the theatre!

Claire was especially excited to have a real glass (with no top) and a straw and she learned all about a waitress :)
