Claire is 16 weeks old today! Over the past few days we have really been able to tell that she is going through a growth spurt and is exhibiting much of what we have read about the "Four Month Wakeful Period". She is sleeping a little less during the day and is awake longer between feedings--still no "set" nap periods but we can pretty much expect for her to sleep at least 45 minutes between each feedings. Unfortunately, our little "sleep through the night angel" is also going through a spell of sleeping less at night. Sometimes she just wakes up wanting to chat...for a long time! At 1 am this morning, I told her we were just going to have to talk about it tomorrow...and tried to get her to go back to sleep. She decided it just couldn't wait, and tried to tell me again at 2:00, and 3:30, and 5:30! :) She has completely broken out of her swaddle and sleeps as a free baby now, arms flying! Sometimes we find her feet where we left her head and even once found her on her stomach in her crib. From what the pediatrician has told us, only time will get us back to where we were and for the 3 of us to just try to get through it the best we can!
She is getting so much more sturdy these days-she holds up her head on her own all the time. To celebrate her 16 week birthday, we put together her Rainforest Jumperoo. While her legs aren't quite long enough to reach the floor, we dusted off our dictionaries and they seemed to help her bounce! She likes all the blinking lights and things that move.
Claire's voice has also grown! She knows how to tell us when she wants some attention...she has a grunt/squeel down that certainly captures your attention! She smiles 100 smiles a day and lights up when you sing songs to her-a surprise favorite tune: the Jeopardy song! haha! During tummy time, we have caught her giving her head a break and instead concentrating on pushing up onto her toes. She has also taken a liking to chewing on her fingers--teeth on the way?
Claire had a so much fun with Grandma Becca today while Daddy took the day off to play golf. She's looking forward to seeing Grandma Patsy and Grandpa Mike this weekend!
